Welcome!
I hope you're as excited about the new school year as I am!
I confess to being a newbie when it comes to maintaining an website, but I hope to update this site regularly to
enhance communication with students and their parents.
Students: Think you may have zoned out when I was giving an assignment? Use this site to check and make
sure you have all your assignments. Learn about wild creatures in our area. Participate in a class survey. Or, follow
the links to find fun stuff on the web!
Parents: Check to make sure junior really did his homework. Use this site to share information
with other parents. Or, email me with questions or comments.
Fellow educators: Share your stories or ideas. I'd love to hear your experiences teaching science
or 5th and 6th grade.
Be sure to have a good look around the site, and thanks for visiting!

Meet Our Neighbors

What's so funny?
Everybody knows this bird, whether you've seen it circling your picnic at the beach, perched on the pier at Indian Point
Park or hopping around in the parking lot at Walmart. But did you know it's called a Laughing Gull because
of the "ha ha ha" sound it makes? But don't worry-- they're laughing with you, not at you.
Laughing gulls nest in colonies, and eat fish, crabs, shrimp, and flying insects (and garbage.)
Have a funny gull story? Share it here, then look for it on the "Class Bulletin Board" page.
